I am Co-Principal Investigator of the International Nitrogen Network (iN-Net) and Lead of its Nitrogen Governance Working Group. iN-Net convenes nine international science and policy networks, including intergovernmental bodies such as the UN Environment Programme’s Nitrogen Working Group and the Task Force on Reactive Nitrogen under the UN Convention on Long-Range Transboundary Air Pollution. Designed to support the implementation of recent UN resolutions that call for national action plans and enhanced international coordination, the project addresses critical knowledge and policy gaps. As Lead of the Nitrogen Governance Working Group, I coordinate a team of more than 30 international and interdisciplinary scholars, practitioners, and representatives from the nonprofit and policy sectors. Our goal is to identify and advance research and policy frameworks that enable effective and equitable governance responses for sustainable nitrogen management.

I'm honored to be a contributing author to the International Nitrogen Assessment (INA), the first global assessment addressing issues at the intersection of nitrogen science, management, and governance. Set for publication in 2025, INA is a major output from the International Nitrogen Management System Project (INMS), implemented by the United Nations Environment Programme with support from the Global Environment Facility (GEF).

I am also a Steering Council Member for the North American Chapter of the
International Nitrogen Initiative (INI). INI is an international program sponsored by the Scientific Committee on Problems of the Environment (SCOPE) and the International Geosphere-Biosphere Program (IGBP) aiming to produce scientific advice to minimize nitrogen’s harmful effects on human health and the environment resulting from food and energy production.
